COMPOSER NOTES

It is with great enthusiasm that I present to you my first edition of a very particular work: Edvard Grieg’s (1843-1907) Sonata no. 2 in G major op. 13 for flute and piano.

When I first heard it in its original version for violin and piano, I was instantly captivated by the beauty of its melodies that filled my heart with intoxicating joy. Grieg composed this sonata during his honeymoon, when he was 24 years old. So it is not surprising that through brilliant melodies, fiery rhythms and unexpected dynamic contrasts, he captured and embodied the happiness of that special moment in his life.

After having recorded my arrangement of this sonata, it felt appropriate to publish this edition for flute and piano and make it available to all flutists worldwide. I hope you enjoy performing this work as much as I have enjoyed transcribing it for our instrument.
